Glowies

Christmas

Oooh, ho, ho, ho!!! This is the last decoration entry I'll make here this month! This collection is actually mine and some of the bulbs, not to mention the wires are so old they don't work anymore. Every time I put these up I make a mental note (you know how effective those are) to buy a fire extinguisher. The electrical outlet looks like something out of "A Christmas Story"! But I so love them! We had one Santa with a tree when I was a child and I prove that adult aquisitiveness is WAY worse than a kid's!

Merry,merry Manxmas

Cleoxams

This is one exhausted cat after a day spent knocking over feather trees, chewing on ribbons, and trying on tissue paper to see which color looks best on her. Actually she says it was her sister that knocked over the tree but who knows, at first they tried to blame the dog!

Santa Dog Comes to Town

Santalouise

This doesn't need much narrative aside from the fact that this is the Queen of the Universe and her name is Louise. Oh yes, I am her lady-in-waiting and I am well-trained. This was taken as part of a fund-raiser for Heaven Can Wait, a local rescue organization. And yes, she is clearly not pleased to be on Santa's lap, the miniature poodle ahead of her in line couldn't stop licking Santa's face but Louise is sooooo above all that!

Io in Ohio

Ioinohio

The illustrations in old art history books are so beautiful that I keep the books that fall apart and use many of them in collage. This started with Io and the border and then those guys just had to have a voyeuristic peek!
Maybe I was thinking of Gentileschi's Suzanna and the Elders, but I hope this is a little more light-hearted and Monte Pythonesque.

Little Deer Tsunami

Its wonderful to have a neighbor with a jig-saw and a desire to work on a shelf for Christmas! Larry Sorensen lives in Lakewood NY and wanted me to design a shelf for him to work on so it was kismet! Now there's a place for all the vintage celluloid and lead deer. What am I thinking? The bottle brush evergreens fit in here too!

Swinging Santa

Img_0343
Forgot I made this guy until I unpacked him this week. He makes me smile! I couldn't find a good location for him until I looked at that bare cord above all the holly on the light. Voila! He seems to be swinging from the lampshade!

As I told friends online, this is only the tip of the tsunami! Haven't included the cardboard houses, the ones with glass bead roofs, the glitter variety and the plain-old-put-lights-in-them kind, or the pine-cone elves, or the foil bells or the feather trees......on and on it goes! See more later!

Greetings for the Season

Wintercard_copy
So far the outdoors lights are out, the vintage cardboard houses are on the mantle, the funky pine cone elves are dancing on the window sill and I'm about to expire under a pile of cardboard, ceramic, paper angels. Yes, my sig-other is way INTO decorating for Christmas, sometimes into April. And we aren't even close to finished yet! I'll post some pictures a little later of this extravaganza, it is pretty. But since I send out only a few cards here is one especially for the visitors that stumble on this site! HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYBODY!
