From the Collage a Day Files
The title lies. I'm really not doing a collage a day but am doing as many as possible. Sometimes the papers do all the work, they are just laying there in the right combination, sometimes I'm using up the pile of papers that accumulates on my table and sometimes the papers for the stitched collages are drying and I've got some studio time on my hands. The photo is from an Akron University yearbook and once I pull out a page these things scream to be used.

You seem so spontaneous with your collages! I love the purple...Did you get my comment about awards I had for you at my site? It's okay what you do with them, I just wanted you to know you are appreciated! Roxanne

They are spontaneous in the sense that they're not planned and I consider planning sketching things out to decide what I'm doing. This and most of the collage work are constructed on the spot, sometimes using materials I've chosen ahead of time, sometimes just grabbing what is close at hand. Spontaneity is a quality that I value, but I'm not certain I've mastered the attitude necessary for it. The Chinese C'han masters felt that a trained, meditative state was necessary for true spontenaity. Maybe thats the key.
