This could be about my mother's insistence that I attend business school and become a secretary, but it's also about the influence of myth. You could say my mother's belief in the certainty of "making a living" from the secretarial profession was a myth, after all, who is a secretary now? They seem to have gone the way of unicorns and elves. As it was, I became an art teacher in a public school and for 35 years that was more or less certain. The way things are going in ed in Ohio, that profession may also join the gods and goddesses. There's no end to change, is there?
