So the Art Icon Traveling Gypsy Caravan arrived in Mystic CT on the 18th of September and spent whole days and some nights making polymer clay book covers and the innards as well. This is my big book, I made a smaller one to journal our carousing and art making but the photo is not ready for prime time. Later on that one. But below are some shots of the whole event:
Our view. It could not be more scenic.
The Icon Artists minus me the photographer. Our studio was the Historical Society in Noank CT and was the site of Amelia Earhardt's wedding. She picked a good one.
A potporri, the full moon over Stonington Point, srimshaw from our museum visit (we TOUCHED it), light house somewhere on Long Island Sound from a sailboat and all the books from this year's project.
And lastly, shots of the books being recorded by Bonnie surrounded by other Icons:
They went West yesterday. I used some cut-up collage from many moons ago and then started arranging papers from my "tiny papers" and "tiny photos" pile. And then the gold. Collage: papers, photos, acrylic.
Lots going on here. I started an art journal/sketchbook 4 months ago and was devoting a page to a work with the back blank then decided to do a commentary on the blank. That notion staggered along not very successfully. Then I noticed the areas that were left after painting a variety of papers on top of the blank and started to work into that. The evidence of that has been in the last few entries. I think I'm getting somewhere.....
This is fuller than I wanted but similar to the square pieces that made up the yellow collage previous. I'm after an area of negative space and the crayon and paint obscure that. Collage: crayon, watercolor, text, papers, photo, color pencil.
