The 14th of April at Studio 2091 Gallery from 1-3pm will be another collage soiree for OCS members and folks interested in becoming a member. Bring your supplies and enjoy the camaraderie of other collage-obsessed artists.
Amy's gallery will be the site of our member show in November, so if you haven't seen it, now is your chance.

Some views from the opening reception of the member's show at The Cannery Gallery in Dayton OH on November the 4th 2011. President Shirley, Vice President Chris and Treasurer Christine took a road trip down and Chris is responsible for the photo documentation. The above view is about mid-way in the show.
Vice President and President in front of the art.
Chris and Nita Leland, author and awards judge.
Myself and the awards judge. Nita also had her new book on collage for sale the night of the reception.
Award winners were:
Marcia Mazak: Rust Belt No.5
Barbara Johns: The Truth was in Her Eyes
Shirley Ende-Saxe: The Blue of UnBe
Pat Schroeder: Fables
Chris Paringer: Wall St Terror
Congratulations to the award winners and all who exhibited. The show was stong and an excellent example of the many talented artists in our organization. Next year we plan on being in NE OH again, so keep working and plan to enter next fall.
Oh, and please excuse the tardiness of this entry, the blogger Shirley has her own solo show tonight and has been preoccupied ever since arriving home from Dayton.

After a board meeting yesterday about the Dayton Annual Member Show, keep these things in mind:
1. Art must be delivered to Shirley E. or Chris P. to get a ride down to Dayton by the 15th of October.
2. Please make sure art to go is securely wrapped and padded, your friendly transporters get very worried when they receive a naked collage and can't be certain it will come back to you safely. So wrap them up!
3. If you enclose your check on the back of your work (outside the wrapping) that will help us with our records.
4. Prospectus and entry form links follow this post, if you haven't entered/renewed, do it today!
And now the miscellaneous part from Gretchen B., this sounds fun:
Dear Landfillart Artist,This is very exciting time for The Landfillart Project! We are nearing completion of the first phase of our mission. We only need 150 additional, professional artists to join us on our Landfillart "voyage", allowing us to realize our original goal of establishing a collection of 1,041 total art projects. We can then move forward and start phase 2- publishing The Landfillart Book, which will include every piece completed for the project. Please pass on our website www.landfillart.org, and have your fellow artists contact me. If the artist mentions your name, it will help speed up the selection process.Thank you for your help and participation in The Landfillart Project.Sincerely,Ken Marquis

Those of you who entered the 3.5x2.5 show at The Box Gallery......pick-times have been revised to 4pm-6pm on the 18th, Monday at Summit Art Space on the 3rd floor. These are the same hours as the "Fresh" show and allows me to be there by myself and not have to post an additional person at the door downstairs. See you there!

Friday at The Box Gallery was our opening for the small scale art measuring only 3.5x2.5 but it was a big pARTy with 160 in attendance between the hours of 5 and 7. Pat Sargent was our judge and she chose 5 merit award winners:
Martha Germano
Catherine Wooley
Gretchen Bierbaum
Brenda Keblesh
Linda Mertus
The food was wonderful, the wine and punch were good and the music provided by Kevin Minster was terrific (he deserves a venue where everyone will sit down and pay attention to him) Some photos taken at the reception:
Exhibitor Gwen and reception boss Sharon.
Brenda K., award winner, and Cathy.
Tracy B., with her work.
Vice President, Chris P., with her work.
